Main Goals
Increase youth resilience and decrease likelihood of violence by promoting positive youth engagement and strengthening local governance for the benefit of future generations.

Objectives
- Objective 1: To fortify inclusive leadership capacities and expand equitable civic participation opportunities for young women and men, thereby fostering peace and sustainable development.
- Objective 2: To strengthen inter-stakeholder relationships and address youth grievances through enhanced youth participation in local governance structures.
- Objective 3: To enhance the capacity youth, people with disability and women to engage in peaceful and democratic electoral processes.

Project impact and achievements
- Significant advancements have been made in youth leadership development, with 18 Young Change Makers (10 M, 8 F) pursuing local government leadership positions. Of those 13 (7 M, 6 F) were successful and obtained leadership roles
- Cultivation of robust relationships and trust between local government leaders and youth through constructive engagement meetings, facilitating transparent and accountable grievance resolution.
- Increased youth participation in local development activities, evidenced by heightened attendance and involvement in village decision-making meetings, achieved through youth-led awareness initiatives.
- Enhanced youth advocacy through the strategic placement of youth representatives on decision-making platforms, facilitated by capacity-building efforts for local government leaders and other stakeholders.
- Strengthened organizational capacity of 20 Youth-Led Organizations (YLOs) through targeted capacity-building programs and strategic cash assistance, enabling them to enhance internal systems, attract partnerships, and ensure intervention sustainability.
USAID Kijana Kwanza Activity
The USAID Kijana Kwanza Activity, a collaborative initiative between Door of Hope Tanzania and the International Rescue Committee (IRC), is a four-year (August 2022 – July 2026) endeavor focused on enhancing youth resilience and mitigating violent incidents within five districts of the Mtwara Region: Mtwara, Masasi, Tandahimba, Nanyumbu, and Newala. This project is predicated on the fundamental principle of promoting positive youth engagement and strengthening local governance relationships, thereby ensuring a more stable and prosperous future for subsequent generations. Employing youth-centered, evidence-based, and scalable interventions.
