DHWYT operates with five main programmatic areas namely:
Programme 1: Social Accountability Monitoring (SAM)
SAM is participatory concepts/approach that provides the opportunity for public participation. This program provides an understanding of how people should demand clarification, justification, validation and correction; the main objective being promoting transparency and accountability in the implementation of all public activities. SAM enables the people to identify the five pillars of accountability namely: planning and resource allocation, expenditure management, performance management, integrity management and oversight.
Programme 2: Civic Engangement and Leadership
The goal of the program is to have an improved quality of life for citizens of Tanzania through checking on the wastage and excess of power of the government.
Programme 3: Economic Strengthening and Entrepreneurship
Empowering women and youths from vulnerable households and enable them to improve their income through savings and engaging in income generating activities like agriculture and small entrepreneurship.
Programme 4: Youth and Resource Governance in Extractive Industry
This program intends to empower youth to effectively participate and promote good governance in Tanzania’s extractives sector. The overall objective of the proposed program is to empower youth through awareness raising and capacity building to demand for transparency, accountability and public participation in Tanzania’s extractives sector.
Programme 5: Health, Nutrition Assessment and Counselling
The goal of this program is to fight malnutrition, facilitate reproductive health and life skills and strengthen health systems in Tanzania (the focus areas will be health commodities, human resource for health, health governance and finance, nutrition and life skills.
